Tom Sawyer's RV Park--Wonderful campground with easy access to the restaurants and nightlife in downtown Memphis.  Located right on (and sometimes under) the Mighty Mississippi River--it can flood.  One hundred level pull-through sites with full hook-ups (50-amp service).

Dam Site River Park, Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  This is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campground, located on the White River in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.   Beautiful, peaceful setting with great hiking and fishing opportunities.

Don Carter State Park

5000 N. Browning Bridge Rd.

Gainesville, GA 30506

One of the newest and nicest campgrounds in the Georgia State Park system, Don Carter is a peaceful getaway right outside of Atlanta.  It offers water views, clean restrooms, laundry  facilities, cable connections, viable internet reception, and almost full hookups.  Gray water disposal is available, but not black.

Skidaway Island State Park

52 Diamond Causeway

Savannah, GA 31411

Site 10

Georgia has some beautiful parks and Skidaway Island is no exception.  As seen in the photo, the lots are generously sized, most can be accessed as a pull-through, the price is reasonable, and you can’t beat the location.

McKinney Campground, Allatoona Lake, Georgia

Right outside of Atlanta

Site 086

Address: 6659 McKinney Camp Ground Rd. SE, Acworth, GA 678-721-6700

This is a beautifully maintained Army Corp of Engineers property.  It features swimming, boating, fishing, and peaceful camping under the trees.  The scenery is breathtaking and the sites are far enough apart that you can actually enjoy some quiet time.

Beautiful campground outside of Harrison, ID on Lake Coeur d’Alene.  There is an upper and lower campground loop, with the lower loop having sites on the lake.  Sites are well spaced, but not particularly level, and there are branches that must be trimmed to get into some of the spots.  Each site has a picnic table and fire ring.

One of the best camping spots we have ever discovered in this country.  There are 14 designated camping spots; 12 are for RVs.  Each is asphalt-covered and most will handle a big rig.  Numbers one through seven back up to the Salmon River, where you can fish right behind your RV.

Glenwood City Campground--Safety issues and duck poop make this a one-star campground.  But the newborn robins were nice to discover.

Tickfaw State Park, Springfield, LA

One of my favorite parks, this spacious campground offers necessary amenities plus tons of tranquility.

French Quarter RV Resort, New Orleans

Let me start by saying that I am from Louisiana, lived there until I was in my 40’s, so I have spent MANY a day in New Orleans.  I love the town, especially the food and culture.  HOWEVER, I do not like getting ripped off as a tourist, paying over $100 a night for a small slab of concrete, brick, and grass.

Tahquamenon Falls State Park

Paradise, Michigan

This park is known for its Upper and Lower Falls and the great fishing for Northern Pike nearby in Paradise...Really....Paradise.
